Ifeoma Akaniro, Midwifery Student in Nigeria
Ifeoma Akaniro, a student at the School of Midwifery FCT Gwagalada, Nigeria, tells how she’ll help her country make progress in Millennium Development Goal 5 when she graduates.
Our Involvement
CapacityPlus’s Amanda Puckett interviewed Ifeoma during a trip to Nigeria. CapacityPlus provided scholarships for 2,065 qualified community health extension worker and midwifery students who were at risk of dropping out due to financial reasons in their final year of studies. This is one component of the project's work to support the Federal Ministry of Health and other stakeholders to carry out an integrated program of health workforce strengthening.
About This Series
CapacityPlus places health workers at the center of our efforts. We embrace the WHO’s broad definition of health workers. Our staff conducted quick, informal interviews with health workers in various countries. We invite you to hear their voices and learn what we’re doing to help them save even more lives.
