Sister Leonilla Ifunya, Doctor in Tanzania
Sister Leonilla Ifunya, a doctor in charge at Cardinal Rugambwa Hospital in Tanzania, shares why she become a health worker and remembers former patients—mothers stigmatized by their families after testing positive for HIV/AIDS.
Our Involvement
Doris Mwarey interviewed Sister Leonilla while she was in Tanzania to pilot a training for users of the country’s human resources information system (HRIS). CapacityPlus collaborates with IntraHealth International’s Tanzania Human Resource Capacity Project to strengthen the understanding and use of the system. Sister Leonilla attended the training and learned skills for using the HRIS for managing health workers.
About This Series
CapacityPlus places health workers at the center of our efforts. We embrace the WHO’s broad definition of health workers. Our staff conducted quick, informal interviews with health workers in various countries. We invite you to hear their voices and learn what we’re doing to help them save even more lives.
