Kate Tulenko, Director
Kate Tulenko has worked at the highest levels of health workforce, health financing, and health policy development with institutions around the world. She has been an advisor to national governments on health policy and reform, and served on expert panels for the World Bank, World Health Organization, AFRO, American Public Health Association, Global Health Workforce Alliance, American Hospital Association, and more. Tulenko has published on a wide array of topics. Her most recent book, Insourced: How Importing Jobs Impacts the Healthcare Crisis Here and Abroad, was published by Dartmouth Press in Spring 2012. She also holds academic appointments at the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health and the George Mason College of Health and Human Services. Tulenko holds an MD and MPA from Johns Hopkins University, and an MPhil from the University of Cambridge, Emmanuel College.
Deborah Murray, Deputy Director, Program Management and Administration
Deborah Murray has 25 years of program, technical, and management experience in international health, with a focus on family planning and HIV/AIDS. She brings leadership experience at the global, regional, and country level, including nearly five years as chief of party in Rwanda and more than three years as a senior regional manager based in Bangkok. She has a proven track record in conceptualizing and expanding programs and in organizing and managing teams. A highlight in her career was the launch of the first USAID-supported ART site. As a technical program manager for IntraHealth, she gained significant experience in human resources for health. Murray is a returned Peace Corps volunteer from Senegal and has had in-county professional experience in over 20 countries in Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America. She holds an MBA from the Thunderbird School of Global Management and is fluent in French.
Alfredo Fort, Director of Monitoring and Evaluation
Alfredo Fort has more than 30 years’ experience in primary and reproductive health care as well as program monitoring and evaluation and applied research. He was a scientist in charge of the Americas at the Department of Reproductive Health and Research at the World Health Organization in Geneva. He has also worked as senior health adviser for the Demographic and Health Surveys (DHS) project and previously served as monitoring and evaluation director for the PRIME and PRIME II global projects at IntraHealth in North Carolina. Alfredo is originally from Peru and initially worked in the public and private sectors in periurban and rural areas of the country. He enjoys learning about peoples and cultures, teaching and building capacity wherever needed.
Wanda Jaskiewicz, Senior Team Leader, Global Leadership and Health Workforce Effectiveness
Wanda Jaskiewicz is a global health specialist with over 15 years of extensive field experience in developing countries. Her area of focus in her current role is to provide technical assistance in improving health worker retention and productivity. Prior to this position Jaskiewicz worked on numerous USAID projects as a technical advisor and in a program management capacity in the area of HIV/AIDS, family planning, reproductive health, and maternal health. She holds an MPH from Tulane University, has extensive field experience in many countries, and is fluent in English and Spanish.
