Leah McManus, IntraHealth International, Program Officer
Leah McManus is an international development and global health specialist with over five years of experience in health systems strengthening at the community and national levels. In her current role with CapacityPlus, she supports the project’s activities with the Nursing and Medical Education Partnership Initiative, core work in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and field work in Liberia, as well as assisting in general project management. Prior to joining IntraHealth, Leah served on the programs team of an international NGO, focusing on community health systems strengthening and service provision in the areas of maternal and newborn health, family planning, water and sanitation, integrated management of childhood illness, and HIV/AIDS. During this time, Leah spent a majority of a year in Liberia, Haiti, Kenya and Sierra Leone, where she saw the true impact of capacity-building and the importance of community ownership for sustainability. Leah earned a Master’s of International Studies with a concentration in International Development from North Carolina State University in Raleigh.
