El Salvador

CapacityPlus supported El Salvador to implement a strategic plan for strengthening the supply chain workforce to ensure that medicines and other health commodities reach the people that need them, especially for HIV/AIDS services.

Highlights

• CapacityPlus and a multiagency committee led a regional workshop for over 40 representatives of five countries (including El Salvador), technical experts, and donor representatives, who identified and prioritized key challenges facing HIV/AIDS commodity security.

• The Ministry of Health conducted a situation analysis that informed the development of recommendations to address areas in need of improvement, including low motivation among supply chain workers attributed to heavy workload and lack of recognition such as incentives or performance-based promotions.
