Supporting the Dominican Republic’s Focus on Public Health Human Resources Management
The Dominican Republic National Health System’s objective is to improve the health of individuals and communities, prevent diseases, and eliminate inequalities relating to health status and access to services.
With this mandate in mind, the Ministry of Health has begun a reorganization process to decentralize health care and put in place a network of regional health services.
The Ministry asked the USAID mission in the Dominican Republic to work with its human resources for health leaders to develop and implement a two-year project for strengthening human resources management systems at both the central and regional levels.
With the mission’s funding and support, CapacityPlus’s aim is to help officials in the Dominican Republic refine and strengthen the human resources management systems needed to create an enabling environment for the health workforce to perform effectively.
