The Ministry of Health has prioritized the development of electronic health workforce and health management information systems. CapacityPlus collaborated with the USAID-funded ForçaSaúde project to lay the groundwork for this important effort to improve health systems planning and decision-making. Key achievements included an analysis of the Ministry’s human resources information system (HRIS) to identify indicators required by stakeholders, gaps in institutional capacity, and immediate priorities and medium-term human resources management strengthening options; and supporting the Ministry to develop job descriptions and a curriculum for various levels of biostatisticians with the goal of increasing the quantity of health workers performing data collection and improving the quality of these efforts.
